RESISTANCE premiered worldwide on NETFLIX in 2015, was translated into 18 languages and was recognized on the floor of the US Congress and entered into the Congressional Record for its contribution to the discourse on antibiotics and so-called superbugs. The film was called “Lucid, superbly filmed and galvanizing” by The Washington Post, “The Movie That Will Make You Care About Antibiotic Misuse” by WIRED, and “gripping” and “engaging” on Slate.

Michael is an experienced storyteller with a full portfolio of work driven by a keen ability to take in large amounts of complex information in short amounts of time and then, through storytelling, make that information sensible and engaging to non-specialist audiences. This skill was honed over years writing and reading about the philosophy and history of media, science and technology in graduate school, first at Georgetown University in Washington DC and then at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where Michael taught film production and media studies and was a PhD Candidate.

In addition to those listed above Michael has directed, edited and shot for a range of organizations including: Al Jazeera, HGTV, CNBC, Smithsonian Folkways, Hulu, Whole 30, Oxygen, Minor League Baseball, Stone Barns, The TN Department of Health, After-School All-Stars, The Rodale Institute, On Being, WIRED, The Tribune Co. and more.

On the commercial front Michael won a Telly award for work with insurance company AFLAC and developed an expertise for commercial storytelling and branded content with popular natural and organic food company Applegate. When Michael began working with Applegate it was a mostly regional meat company with no traditional advertising and only a few hundred followers on any social channel. Michael shot, co-directed, produced and edited nearly all of Applegate's video content (for advertising, sales, internal use, special events and social marketing), which was instrumental to the brand’s nationwide expansion, 10s-of-thousands of social followers, and rise to prominence in the "good food" market. Michael has worked similarly with smaller brands and organizations helping to launch the startup body care brand BEAST and the sustainable home goods company NEWLY.
